Company in Hong Kong

Minimal taxation and a high level of trust from banks make Hong Kong an ideal place for doing online business and an excellent platform for trading operations in the Asian region. Only income earned in Hong Kong is taxed here. In this case, the place of receipt of income is considered to be the place where the prior negotiations were conducted.

In view of the peculiarities of Hong Kong in terms of determining the place of receipt of income, it is advisable to first register a company in another offshore zone, and then re-register it in Hong Kong, leaving all management bodies and the directorate in the old jurisdiction, signing all contracts there.

Hong Kong also has a wide range of processing companies willing to cooperate with online businesses of any risk level.

Offshore Hong Kong

In this case, it is not entirely correct to use the word offshore: Hong Kong, in fact, is not one of the offshore jurisdictions. It is not listed in the lists of international economic organisations or in the national lists of offshore zones.

The scale of financial transactions and trade with this jurisdiction is so large that transactions with Hong Kong are rarely suspected of being offshore fictitious. The lion’s share of all Asian exports passes through Hong Kong, and goods of non-European origin do not raise questions from tax authorities.

Taxation

Hong Kong is not one of the offshore jurisdictions, but the taxation here is no less comfortable. In principle, there are very few taxes, and the rates are low. The income tax on profits earned in Hong Kong is only 17.5%, and after two years the rate drops to 16% (for comparison, in Panama the tax is 30%, in Belize – 35%). There is also no anti-transfer legislation here.

Dividends received are not included in the list of income, which makes the Special Administrative Region convenient for use in various holding schemes, for example, to receive royalties from the use of intellectual property. There are no turnover taxes or capital gains taxes. There are no transaction taxes or social security contributions. There are no customs duties on imports and exports in Hong Kong. The latter allows you to import goods into Hong Kong with repackaging and changing prices in invoices.

There are no taxes on dividends, on the distribution of dividends, on interest on bank deposits, or on payments upon liquidation of a company. Hong Kong is therefore often used to remit dividends from countries without withholding tax on dividends, such as the Republic of Cyprus.

There is no currency control at all, which allows you to cash dividends directly on the spot or transfer them to any bank.

Professional fees and royalties paid to non-residents are taxed (1.75%, after two years – 1.6%). Insurance and reinsurance are subject to reduced rates, the tax on consignment operations (carried out by a resident on behalf of a non-resident) is 1%. The state duty is charged in the amount of from $100, but not more than 3.75%, the property tax is 16%.

The taxation on securities applies only to assets acquired on the local stock market. This makes Hong Kong very convenient for securities transactions.

Company in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, also known as Xianggang, is a special administrative region in China, located in the southeast. Hong Kong is guaranteed by the Chinese government non-interference in the tax and political system until 2047. Today Hong Kong is the largest financial centre, as well as a tax haven for businessmen all over the world. It has the largest office, transport and financial infrastructure in Asia, as well as a cheap workforce.

To summarise, we can say that a registered company in Hong Kong combines several advantages. Firstly, it is not perceived as an offshore company: Hong Kong imposes all standard requirements for legal business conduct on entrepreneurs, including the conduct of an audit, during which sources of income are determined. At the same time, there are a number of opportunities (partnerships, trusts) that can make doing business in Hong Kong not only prestigious but also very profitable.
